I spent many happy hours at Essendon Airport in the 1960's, seeing Dad off on interstate business trips and welcoming him home again.

I remember playing on the seesaw and watching planes from the upstairs viewing deck.

When the opportunity to go behind the scenes came up during the Airport’s expo several years ago, I jumped at the chance to revisit those innocent days.

I still visit the airport on a regular basis and thoroughly enjoy plane spotting, especially seeing the marvellous gooney bird (DC-3) when it flies. There’s something about the drone of those engines …… Yes, I’m an aviation geek!
